VCA Cottage Animal Hospital has been in the community since 1978, located near Rossmore. As a well-established, full service, small animal veterinary hospital, we pride ourselves on delivering top-of-the-line medical care while providing outstanding client service. Our services include wellness and preventative care for cats and dogs, wellness plans for kittens, puppies, adults and senior pets. We also offer dental care, spay and neuters.

Dr. Paul Bettelheim was born and raised in Berkeley, California, and he graduated from UC Davis in 1972. He served two years active duty in the US Army as a Captain of the Veterinary Corp. trained in Laboratory Medicine and Public Health. Paul consulted at UCSF Medical Center from 1986 to 1987 in Labratory Medicine. Before coming to VCA Cottage in 2000, he co-owned Antioch Veterinary Hospital from 1980 to 1985 and owned Lamorinda Veterinary Hospital from 1987 to 2000. Paul Lives with his wife, an elderly cat, and 5 obnoxious chickens.. and loves them ALL!
Dr. Garrow earned her BA at the University of California, Berkeley and her DVM at the University of California, Davis. She completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at the Sacramento Animal Medical Group. She is a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society), and is certified in Veterinary Musculoskeletal Manipulation (through Options for Animals Chiropractic School) and TuiNa, a form of massage and musculoskeletal manipulation for medical conditions (trained through the Chi Institute). She is also certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine (through the Chi Institute). Dr. Garrow has two Australian Shepherds, a middle-aged male that is an enthusiastic, if not precise, agility competitor and a female puppy who will hopefully enjoy agility and possibly herding as she matures. Additionally she has three senior, ill-mannered cats who share the house with her and her husband.
